Friday Reading: Psalm 29
Key Verse: Psalm 29:1
1 Give to Jehovah, O you mighty, give to Jehovah glory and strength.
1 Give to Jehovah, O you mighty, give to Jehovah glory and strength.
Devotion:
There is a huge difference between saying that God exists and giving Him the praise and reverence that He deserves. Don’t let us get caught up in saying that it should start at the top and come down to all people – it starts with each one of us, whether we are kings and queens or whether we are the poorest of peasants. We need to lift His name up high and acknowledge Him as our King of Kings, Lord of Lords, our one true God.

When we are willing to come to Him in repentance and faith, His is just and willing to forgive us of those sins that we bring to Him and to strengthen us through the Holy Spirit. The very nature of worship is to give Him the glory that He so richly deserves – not for us to seek our own glory by being involved in the right places at the right time, but giving Him and Him alone the glory. The more that we acknowledge Him, the stronger He is seen to be in other peoples eyes – not because He has our praise, but because we are all fickle and look for strength through others actions!
There is no equal to God. There is no other God. The power of nature rests in His hands. The awesome power that we love to see is but a ripple in His power when we consider the universe as opposed to the earth or even something in our area that blows our minds. The whole of nature is shouting out “Glory to His name” – why can’t we see it?
When we consider that the greatest of sinners in our world can be brought to their knees in front of God, we should tremble at His power. When we consider the greatest of leaders can be brought to his knees by God, we should tremble at His name. When we see that nature is under His control, we should worship His majesty. He is there to give us refuge. He is there to show us His love. He is there as our protector and guide. He is our one true God… Wake up to that fact!
Points to Ponder:
Do you protect your loved ones from bad things?
Do you allow yourself (and God) to be exposed to bad things in your life?
