Wednesday Reading: 2 Peter 3:8-10

Key Verse: 2 Peter 3:9
9 The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, as some count slowness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any of us should perish, but that all of us should come to repentance.

Devotion:
Today's reading starts out with the quote that God's day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like one day. This has been used by many to try and justify things that do not happen on time or that have been left for a long time; but I think we just have to remember that God is the one that created time to start with. One thing that we do struggle to come to terms with is that single fact that God lives outside of time! To us, that is totally alien and unimaginable – because we have been created within time and we know nothing else other than living in a linear state of time change.

That fact should then give us a reason to remember how it is then possible for Him to be able to answer our prayers outside of our time-scales and in ways that we think not possible. God is not constrained by the laws of our universe – He is the one that created them in the first place- how can He then be constrained by something He has created!

So when we bring our prayers to God, we have to remember that we are the ones living within the constrains of our universe and within time. God is the one that is not constrained at all and can hence organise for our prayers to be answered in the best possible time. He is the one that created a beautiful place for us to live in and a universe that we can enjoy ourselves within – He organised all of this before-hand and continues to maintain it and will continue to do so. He has done all of this because of His love for us and that is why He continues to make sure that we can still live. The over-riding fact being that He is working outside of time... something we may never be able to grasp!

He has already planned things to such an extent that He knows what is going to happen at the end of the world – but that is only measured by us because we live within the time-line that He has created...

Points to Ponder:
Does your brain hurt thinking about things like this?

Do you realise that He actually planned this all to start with!
