Sunday Reading: 2 Corinthians 6:14-16

Key Verse: 2 Corinthians 6:16
16  And what agreement does a temple of God have with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, as God has said, "I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."

Devotion:
How did you first get to hear about Jesus Christ and what He has done for you? I bet you did not hear it from an unbeliever but rather from a believer in Christ. So why should our bibles say that we should not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers? How are we ever to be able to spread the gospel to people who do not yet know it if we cannot be with them? Well by reading more of our bibles we begin to see where the apostle is going with these words... We cannot hope to be able to grow as a Christian if we are going to go out and do what all other unbelievers do. We cannot hope to be able to please or glorify God if we lift up other things or gods instead of our God. We cannot hope to be a Christian unless we separate our spiritual life from the spiritual life of unbelievers around us!

Right from the beginning God has made sure that we understand that in Him there is no darkness and in Him there is no change. If there is none then we cannot bring in any ourselves. God has not struck any pacts with anyone else or anything else. God is our Creator and He alone is God. Everything and everybody needs to look up to Him because He is our God. But the amazing part is what God has said of us...

Even though we are sinners and He cannot abide sin, He has made it possible for us to be washed clean of our sins so that we can join Him. He has made it possible so that He, once again, can enjoy fellowship with us. He has made it possible for the Holy Spirit to dwell within us. He has made it possible for Himself to be amongst us. He has promised to be our God and to make us His people so long as we trust Him to be so! What a merciful and loving God we have!

Points to Ponder
:
What things do you reject in life?

Do you know Christ as your Saviour?
