Tuesday Reading: Colossians 1:3-8
Key Verse: Colossians 1:3
3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
Devotion:
There are always going to be times when you cannot be with someone or you cannot physically help someone. Those should be the times when you call out all the louder to the Lord to help and protect those people. When we are with people we can pray for wisdom and guidance so that we can help them, but when they are afar off we need to depend totally on God. (Fully Rely On God) We cannot be everywhere all at the same time because we are human; God alone is the One who can be everywhere and with us all.
There is nothing more encouraging that hearing how people are depending on Christ themselves or how they have come to know Christ for themselves. The joy that that bring to us is only something that can be explained through experience rather than description. That is what Christ gives us to help to encourage us in His will. Our prayers, therefore, need to be lifted up for those who are not with us each day, for those who are out there depending on God, for those who are facing hard times, for those who need Him most. Our prayers may seem like so little compared to what we think we can accomplish through physically being there with someone, but it is those prayers that reach God and those prayers that He has promised to answer that will bring joy to His children.
The gospel is taught up and down the land, all round the world, so that all may get to know these same truths. Our prayers are the common ground that links us together with God through Christ. Our care for others does not need to depend on us being by their side but rather praying that God will be by their side. What better guide and protector can they have other than God Himself? Share your love today through ardent prayer for others.
Points to Ponder:
Who do you wish you could be with today?
How often do you ask God to be with them?
