Wednesday Reading: Acts 6:1-4

Key Verse: Acts 6:4
4  But we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the Word.

Devotion:
No matter what has to be done there is always time for prayer! In fact if we do not make time for prayer then we are the ones who will lose out. God continues to bless each one of us but if we are the ones ignoring Him then how can He be just and give us the same blessing as someone who worships Him all the time? Does that mean that we have to give up everything that we do in order to worship Christ? Yes and no... You see we don’t only worship Him through going to church and singing praises to Him but we worship Him in everything that we do.

It’s not just the songs, nor the ceremonies, but the way we live our lives. If we want to worship Him in everything that we do then we have to live our lives in a manner where He is the centre of our lives and the rest is built up around Him. If we are basing our lives on Him then we are worshiping Him. When we lift up our prayers silently in earnest we know that He is listening. If we say our prayers out loud with the rest of the congregation but do not think about what we are saying nor whom we are speaking to then we are nothing short of lying in the face of everyone including God.

When the disciples faced murmurings from the Hellenists they knew that they would be facing a formidable foe. The Jews were still stuck in their own ways which they had got, originally, from Moses; but they had changed those ways to suit themselves and they continued on in those ways to impress others and not to impress God. If we too get caught up in ways like that then we too will be doing the same. We need to be honest with Christ because we are in a personal relationship with Him. Treat it like that, personal, honest and committed.

Points to Ponder:
How do you treat a relationship?

What is your relationship like with Christ?
