Sunday Reading: Psalm 37:22-27
Key Verse: Psalm 37:25
25 I have been young, and am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, or his seed begging bread.
Devotion:
The more we hear about and see the effects of unjust people the more we should realise that the unjust will not get away with things. What we do not focus on though is the fact that there are some people who are just do all the right things. Yes it may well be hard to continue doing what is right when all around we see people buckling and overturning under the unjust; but that is is what God requires of us. We need to look around and see what is actually going on and try to uphold God’s laws above all else.
He is here to continually guide and strengthen us and through His power and might we are able to continue following His laws – but we have to choose to do that! It is not just ourselves that we effect when we do things wrong because we are affecting those around us too. It is not just ourselves that we have to keep on the right track because those around us will like to follow on in our footsteps if they see us enjoying ourselves. We do need to enjoy ourselves and we do need to keep God in our lives; doing both is the best way we can encourage others to find out more about Him.
He has shown us time and time again how He is willing to look after us when we are willing to walk with Him in our lives. Don’t you think we would have learned the truth by now? Sadly we have so much more going on around us that does not pertain to God that we get side-tracked and live our own lives instead. We drift away silently from Him and then wonder why things start to go wrong. Just like having a life-line thrown out to you in a storm, it may not be an easy ride back, but so long as we do not let go we can be assured that we are safe and will end up in His arms where we belong!
Points to Ponder:
Who do you think is getting the most enjoyment out of life?
Are you on God’s side?
