Tuesday Reading: 1 Chronicles 29:10-17
Key Verse: 1 Chronicles 29:17
17 I know also, my God, that You try the heart, and have pleasure in uprightness. I, in the uprightness of my heart, have willingly offered all these things. And now I have seen with joy Your people who are present here to offer willingly to You.
Devotion:
What would you give up so that you would be able to do things for God? What would you do in order to show God just how much He actually means to you? These sorts of questions have been asked time and time again and each person will give a different answer and some may give different answers according to who is asking them the question. The truth is that we don’t actually know how much we are willing to give until we start giving.
When David gathered all the stuff together for the temple I am sure that he had no idea just how much would be gathered. The absolute splendour of the temple that was built was not captured through any photographs or drawn pictures so we will never know the exact beauty of it but what we do know is just how much people were willing to give in order that they could do their best for God. Even all those things that were gathered together cannot compare to the riches that await us in heaven; the riches that Christ gives to us continually.
Through all the wonderful things that were gathered David still lifted up God’s name above everything knowing that all of these things came from God to start with. Without God we would not have any of our riches. He is the head of our church and our Creator. All glory and honour are due Him and not the riches that we have. We need to come forward with open hearts, honest hearts and willing hearts knowing that the joy we receive comes from God because He first loved us and gave us His all. What can we hold back when He has given us everything?
Points to Ponder:
What is the most special gift you have given?
Are you giving God your heart?
