Wednesday Reading: Psalm 85:7-9
Key Verse: Psalm 85:8
8 I will hear what God Jehovah will speak; for He will speak peace to His people, and to His saints; but let them not turn again to folly.
Devotion:
People the world over have been praying for and receiving God’s grace and mercy for as long as man has been living in sin. The grace of God comes to us through Christ Jesus; the grace that was promised to great men of our bibles like Abraham. Some of those people have had to wait patiently for that grace. Some have given up on that waiting and turned to other ways only to be reminded that God has not given up on them yet; we too need to be patient...
It is only through what Jesus has done for us that we do get true salvation by Him and that is the hope that we have to look forward to and pray for always. So long as we are praying for it God will answer our prayers and we will hear those answers in ways that may well be totally unexpected. With those answers we will also find the peace that only God can give; a peace that is above all others and endures against all others. He gives His peace to all of His saints – all those that believe in Him and trust in Him.
If we are truly listening then we will hear the encouragement that will turn us away from the follies of life and those around us who do not believe. God will continue to encourage us through the Holy Spirit so that we can continue to give Him the glory for all that He does do for us when we do fear Him. When we look up to Him with the honour and respect that He deserves He is more than willing to remind us of the fact that He came to us as a servant of God through Jesus Christ so that we may join Him in heaven. If we are watching without praying we may well find that we do miss out on the grace, mercy and peace that is on offer because we will get distracted by the world around us...
Points to Ponder:
How easy is it to get distracted when you are not participating?
Are you participating in your relationship with Christ?
