Saturday Reading: Lamentations 3:24-27

Key Verse: Lamentations 3:26
26  It is good that one should hope for the salvation of God, even in silence.

Devotion:
When all else is failing around us we can still know that God is our strength and that He is our Saviour. We can always hope in His ways because we know His ways to be righteous and good. Even when we cannot seem to get things sorted out in our own lives, we can still hope in God’s ways because His ways are perfect. If things are not going as planned, then just wait a bit, wait on God; don’t wait for other people to get you out of your bind but give it to God and He will see you through it. No, it does not mean that you will suddenly hit the jackpot and be able to spend money, it means that your soul will be safe in His arms.

We can mount up as much cash or belongings as we can whilst we live, but as soon as we die those things are left to other people... will they continue to do with them what you did or will they waste it all away? Why build up an earthly empire when it is our heavenly destination that we need to be concerned with. Our souls do not really seek earthly treasures but we try to gain those earthly treasures so that we can please our souls; well it’s just not going to work. As Solomon puts it ‘all is vanity’. Our souls need to know the truth and it is that truth that we seek every day. That truth can only come from God.

We do not have to sit and wait for God to speak to us verbally because we may just be a long while waiting. God is the one who will initiate conversation for His glory and for nothing else. God is the one who has already given us all we need to know through the writings that we now call our bibles. His Word is already written down so that we can know it – we just need to seek it. Our souls are hungry and the only food that will ease them is God’s Word. Use it. Use it wisely. Use it daily.

Points to Ponder:
What do you seek in life?

Are you using God’s Word?
