Saturday Reading: Ephesians 12:13-14

Key Verse: Ephesians 12:13
13  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God, and keep His commandments. For this is the whole duty of man.

Devotion:
The more that you find out that things in life are not as good as you first thought the more that you will realise that you are just chasing a dream. The more that you see that life deals it’s bitter blows the more that you will try to find something that does not deal that blow. Well, unless you are willing to put aside your life and aim for something that is worth more than your earthly life then you will be forever trapped in your own little cycle of seeking things that are based in vanity and pride.

When man is young he always looks forward to the things that are still to come because he sees them as the things that are better. When man grows old he looks back on the life previous to the things that he thinks were better. When man is in the prime of his life he still looks for things that are better because he is not satisfied with the lot he has. That about sums up mans ways of life – always seeking better than he has. Is there anything wrong with that? Not really because we always do seek better ways; but unless we are willing to put aside the ways of the world and focus on the ways of God then we are going to be caught up in the world instead of with God.

Solomon spent much of his life trying to find something that would make him happy and yet despite all the wisdom and wealth that he had he could not find anything that could replace God. There is nothing. God is the pinnacle of our life and the sooner we realise that the sooner we will be able to reach that pinnacle! God wants us to see the truth and He allows us to find all manner of things in this world so that we will recognise the world for the world that it is and Him for the Awesome God that He is! Our aim, our goal, our life must be that we live for God, that we fear Him for He is God, that we obey His commandments because He is God and that we stick to that way in our life – because that is the only true way.

Points to Ponder:
What have you found in life so far?

Are you aiming for God or still trapped in the world?
