Sunday Reading: John 14:16
Key Verse: John 14:16
16 And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, so that He may be with you forever,
Devotion:
One thing we can be sure of is that our prayers will be answered. We do not know Gods timing and we certainly do not know His ways but one thing that we must always be sure of is that He answers prayers. No matter how much we think that God is not going to answer or how much we think that He has not heard us, when we look back over things that He has done we realise that He answers prayers.
It is with great sadness of heart that we said goodbye to my mother Yvonne Jordan today but we are sure that God answers our prayers because we know that He does. We will be saying hello again one day when we get to be with Christ in heaven too but until that time Mum will be sadly missed by so many people. If it was Mum’s wish it would be that she was able to leave behind a comforter for us because she was always thinking of others before herself. This is the example that we must now live up to – to share our lives with others; not just for our loved ones but because that is what Christ would have us do as well.
Christ is our God, our ever present guide and our comforter. He has already been through this and is already with God the Father in heaven; waiting for each of us to acknowledge what He has done for us and to realise just how much He loves us. It is that kind of love that Mum showed to all she came into contact with and that kind of love that we must now show to all.
Christ gifts us with eternal life, but He also gifts us with very precious people like Yvonne, my Mum... God bless...
