Tuesday Reading: Hebrews 4:14-16

Key Verse: Hebrews 4:16
16  Therefore let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Devotion:
Not only do we have His glorious Word from which we can learn so much, be convicted, convinced and sure, but we have Him as well. Not only has He given us everything in writing, but He Himself is here to listen to us whenever we cry to Him. As we grow we see the security that children find in their parents and we know that that child is safe because of the love that parent has for them. As we grow in Christ we must surely see the security we find in Him and witness the love that He has for us. A child will not always get their own way just because the parent loves them because the parent knows what will be best. We should not expect to have all things our own way with Christ because He is the one that does know what is best for us.

How does He know? He’s been there, done that etc. He was the one who came to earth to be born as a human man so that He could live amongst us as a man and show us that all things are in fact possible for those who have faith in their Father in heaven. Just as a child will stand up to many things when they know that their parents are standing by, we should be standing up to many things knowing that our God is standing by! Just as a child will not doubt the support of their parents, we should not doubt God’s support for us when we show the faith of a child towards Him.

The more that we read through God’s Word the more that we find out just how loving and supportive our God is. The more that we realise that, the more that we should know that He loves us and has loved us from the beginning. Why else would He allow His only Son to come to live amongst us unless He wanted to show us that His love knows no bounds. He willingly gave His own life for us so that we could find that safety in Him. He willingly gave it all just so that we could have it all. That is not something we would ever contemplate asking of our parents, and yet Christ has already done that for us. What an awesome God we have.

Points to Ponder:
What support do you expect from your parents?

Do you depend on Christ too?
