Monday Reading: Romans 10:14-17

Key Verse: Romans 10:15
15  And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things!"

Devotion:
The more that we hear about God through reading His Word and the more that we get to know God the more we will probably get to think, “why doesn’t everyone just believe the truth?” or “why can’t they see the truth?” Well the answer to that is that many people will not get to hear about God in this day and age and most will not get to hear the truth. People may mention God in passing or He may be mentioned through swearing or other things but not many are getting to know the truth anymore. We need to be the ones who are willing to step forward and show people His Word.

How can people get to know God unless they are first introduced to Him in some manner? How can they get introduced to Him unless we first tell them about Him? If we stand by and wait for them to come to church or wait for them to read their own bibles then we are going to be waiting a very long time! Can you remember reading your bible before anyone introduced you to God? My parents and my Grandmother would read me stories from the bible and when I was old enough I went to Sunday School. After those seeds were sown it then was my choice as to whether I wanted to believe that which had been told to me. Fortunately I did get to see the truth even when surrounded by people who seem to hide from it at school; but without that introduction I may never have wanted to seek Him.

My faith is built up on God’s promises. His Word is what I learn and what I try to teach others about. I know that many who I do tell about God will not believe what I tell them, but it is not my choice as to whether they should believe. God commands us to go into all the world and teach the gospel so that all may have that choice. Don’t be discouraged when so many people turn their backs on God because when one turns back, all is forgotten, all rejoice!

Points to Ponder:
Can you remember first hearing about God?

Are you telling others about God?
