Tuesday Reading: Habakkuk 2:4

Key Verse: Habakkuk 2:4
4  Behold, the soul of him is lifted up, and is not upright; but the just shall live by his faith.

Devotion:
It never ceases to amaze me just how many references to Christ’s coming can be found in our Old Testaments and so many of them spelled it out plain and clear – He is coming and you will not believe it when He does come! And that is just exactly what happened. Christ came to earth and lived His life as an example to us all. He fulfilled all the prophesies that were told and He did nothing without first making sure that it was God the Fathers will. If we ever want an example to live by it must be Jesus Christ!

Today we have so many echoes of those first elements of disbelief, those same elements that have run throughout time as man has grown up from being the humble and loved servants Adam and Eve started out as being. Now man continues to be lured away by the wiles of Satan as he lifts himself up instead of lifting up God. Christ always lifted up God first of all and yet we continue to try and lift ourselves up in His stead! Have we not seen the evidence of what happens to us time and time again when we do lift ourselves up? Have we not seen the consequences of our unbelief? And yet we ignore the things that we wish not to see and continue to do our own thing!

Now that we have seen that Christ has come as our Messiah, our Saviour, now we must walk by faith believing that He did that all for us. We have peoples words written down for us to show us the truth and we also have peoples lies written down to deceive us. We have to make the choice as to whether we have faith in the truth and wait for God, or whether we want something to happen now and jump into the fire instead. Christ has completed His task so that we can all be saved from our death sentence, but we still have to stand up in faith and ask Him for His personal forgiveness for what we have personally done against Him. He has already shown us that He wants to forgive us – we just need to take that next step in faith.

Points to Ponder:
Are you getting impatient?

Is your faith waning?
