Thursday Reading: 1 John 4:15

Key Verse: 1 John 4:15
15  Whoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him and he in God.

Devotion:
I fear that this is one of the things that many would leave out of their lives, not because they just do not want to acknowledge that Jesus is the Son of God but rather because they have never been taught this single truth. There are religions that say that they are true to God but that will not acknowledge Jesus as being the Son of God but rather see Him as being a mere man who just happened to live and die in the manner that our Messiah was prophesied as living and dying. I find it hard to believe that people can accept Jesus as a mere man, but they do. Some would elevate Him to the level of prophet but no further.

Our bibles spell it out plain enough and have done from the beginning, that Jesus is who He claimed to be and who our bibles tell us that He should be and is. But the most important part of this I believe is how things are done. Yes we could walk up to the front of a church and the preacher could pray over us and we could think that we have been forgiven for our sins – but the reality is that each one of us has to confess with our own mouth and with those words coming from our hearts. It is not good enough to read something out loud and expect it to be so just because we read it – we need to believe it in our hearts as well.

If I got enough people to say that I was a doctor, would it make me a doctor? I think not! Just because something has been said does not make it true – but if we believe within our own hearts that Jesus is the Son of God and we confess that same belief to Him, He is the one who is willing to put aside our sins and welcome us into His fold. I thank God that I have fully trusted Him as my Saviour and that I can know that this truth is in fact the truth. I thank Him for all that He is doing for me so that I can help others to see the truth. I will continue to try and tell others of this glorious truth each and every day but each of you must be the ones that make the decision to follow Christ in your own hearts – I cannot do that for you!

Points to Ponder:
Do you believe the bible?

Do you believe in Jesus Christ?
