Wednesday Reading: Luke 1:43-44

Key Verse: Luke 1:44
44 For lo, as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
Devotion:
The Lord can reach parts that nobody else can – despite the adverts that go around to the contrary! What would lift your spirits? Would having a dream about them make you happy? Would seeing them make you happy? Would hearing them make you happy? Or are you one of those ones who has to smell them before you become happy? Yes there are all types in this world, but one thing is sure that if there is someone special in your life then just hearing, seeing or recognising them can lift your spirits in ways that nothing else can.
When we care about someone that much we more often than not refer to it as love. And that it is. But how pure is that love that is being lifted up? If we give in to the ways of the world then we may well sink into the ways of the world as well, but as long as we are aiming at Christ then we have a good chance at making it through... When John the Baptist was conceived it was a miracle in itself because Elisabeth had been barren up to that point. When Christ was conceived of The Holy Spirit, that was another miracle. But when Mary and Elisabeth came together a miracle that could have gone unnoticed unfolded.
We think of babies in the womb as being new lives waiting to be born, but the truth is that they are already alive and God has already got a plan for each one. If we are willing to submit to that plan in our lives then God is going to richly bless us because that is His way. John leapt for joy when he heard Mary's voice because God's plan was already unfolding there and then. When we follow God's plan we will find more joy and happiness than we can imagine. Joy more than any dream, voice or sight can ever bring. A joy that will last longer than any dream, voice or sight can last. A joy that can only come from God. So next time you have a great dream, hear a familiar voice or see a familiar sight, or even all together, remember that God can do so much more with you!
Points to Ponder:
What would make you happy?

Are you listening out for God's instructions?
