Saturday Reading: 1 Peter 5:5-9

Key Verse: 1 Peter 5:7

7  casting all your anxiety onto Him, for He cares for you.

Devotion:

Humility is something that has to be taught to each one of our children. So many people will try to teach their children to do the exact opposite thinking that by lifting them up at all times they will be able to succeed in everything. That is simply not the case! Yes they will be confident and will be able to achieve much in their lives. But when they come to the end and they start to think about life and about God, they are going to find that the fall they face just may be a bit harsh for them to accept. Just maybe they will not want to accept the truth because they think they can work themselves out of this situation too!

God is the one who knows what is best for us. Unless we are going to try to listen intently to Him, then we are the ones who will find that we reach a dead end and have nothing to show for what we have done! God wants us to be sure that we can depend on Him at all times and for all things. If we do not lift Him up both in times of adversity and in times of great joy then we may well find that we miss out on the truth because we are hiding it from ourselves.

God continues to try to allow us to live for Him and to live with Him. He continues to allow us to find out that we live in this world because of Him. When we do finally begin to realise that we need Him in our lives, then He is going to be willing to fill our lives with the knowledge and wisdom that we need to live for Him and with Him. He wants us to know that we can depend on Him for everything as well. Depending on Him just when we want to is not going to make us stronger but may well make us weaker. If we depend on Him all the time then He can teach us the right way so that we take in that wisdom that we need to live for Him!

Points to Ponder:

Do you want God in your life?

Are you willing to leave sin behind?
