Monday Reading: James 1:5-6
Key Verse: James 1:5
5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and with no reproach, and it shall be given to him.
Devotion:
If we do really want to be able to achieve great things then ought we not to enquire from a great leader to gain insight as to how we should be going about things? What better leader to go to than our Creator Himself? Why should we aim to get advice from other people that He has created when we can go to Him directly instead? Yes we can always get great advice from the other students rather than from the teacher, but oft-times it is best to go direct to the Master!
There have been times in my life when I have not asked something from God simply because I have not had the faith that He will actually answer my prayers. Now when I look back on those instances I do realise that I was at fault because God has continually reminded us that we should be bringing everything to Him in prayer and not trying to filter out our requests because we think He cannot or will not do things. If you have something on your mind then you should and must let God know about it because by doing that you are sharing your burden.
In verse 6 it reminds us that we need to ask in faith, a faith that does not waver or doubt. How many times must Christ tell us that we must bring our prayers to Him? How many times must He remind us that He wants us to share our burdens? How many times must we fail until we realise that this is His will, to have us bring our burdens to Him? The answer should be that we don’t have to because we have His Word already!
Points to Ponder:
How experienced are you in “life”?
Do you regularly bring things to God?
