Monday Reading: Luke 1:5-25

Key Verse: Luke 1:20
20  And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

Devotion:
To the man, this is probably one of those ‘Oh well, that’s life…’ moments whereas to the lady this may well be one of those ‘I told you so!’ moments! How is it that ladies can more often than not spot when things are going wrong before we do? It is quite simply that they are more in tune with what is going on because of their longer standing and often deeper feelings. Do I envy women for being able to understand many things before we can? Sometimes… But then I marvel at my ability that God has given me to be able to do many physical things that ladies cannot. Sometimes I find that I am too logical for my own good and seem to lose track on what should be said or done because I think I have already thought things through.

In reality I have fallen very short of thinking things through. For the last few years I have been doing a reasonable amount of writing things down and I can see how many times I have fallen short and how many mistakes I have made over the last few years… but this time I have a reminder about those mistakes because they are written down. It does not mean that I am dwelling on them more than I should because ‘I am still a man’ and seem to be able to move on, though with a greater understanding than in the past. Does this prevent me from making mistakes? Well, I like to think so!

God is simply amazing for what He has done by creating two very different types of people in man and woman. The longer that I live, the more I am able to see just how much we are meant for each other – God’s perfect design. And yet we still have our moments when we think we can do things without God or go against His design and hope to succeed! When we start to doubt that God can do things, we often find out the hard way that He has already started doing things and we just need to catch up with Him. It is not our task to doubt Him but our task to depend on our faith and allow Him to demonstrate just how awesome He is.

More than one thing has shown me that I need to do some studying to prepare some devotions on just how Awesome God is and who He is to us. Let us not think that we have been given the ability to go out and do anything but rather know that He can use us to achieve anything. But it is not man or woman alone, but both of us working together that demonstrate just how Awesome He really is!

Points to Ponder:
Are you trying to achieve great things for God?

Are you allowing Him to work through you?
