Friday Reading: Psalm 134:1-3

Key Verse: Psalm 134:1
1  Behold, bless ye the LORD, all ye servants of the LORD, which by night stand in the house of the LORD.

Devotion:
There are times when you have to put everything else aside and to simply do what is right instead of doing what is in the to do list or next on the agenda or what has to be done by the end of the day; sometimes we have to put life aside and take on the mantle that God has given us. I used to want to just go off and do my own things, run off and go to the places I wanted to and buy the things I wanted to buy… then I got a bit older and life took hold and changed me from the outside in. By the time I figured out what life was about I had spent half of it running off in all directions instead of doing what was right.

I am not talking about doing what everyone else is going to tell you is right. I am not talking about all the so called good advice that the professionals are going to give you in order to sort your life out. I am talking about the things that God has placed in your heart, those things that He has given you a conscience for.

God wants us to follow His Word because it was given to us for the express reason of being our instruction manual for our lives. We don’t like to be told that we are doing things wrong because that means giving in and doing what someone else has said. But God has given us these instructions for a reason – so that we can get the best out of our lives.

God has given us a purpose that we may not think is worthwhile at first but one that we will grow to see is very important and central to our successful lives. God wants us to praise Him, to lift up our hands in praising Him, to come together to praise Him and to do it from within our hearts.

We need to focus on what we think of God because that is the absolutely most important thing in our lives. There is nothing more important than our Creator and our Saviour. If we lose focus on Him, we lose focus on our lives. So today I would like you to praise God because He is your God!

Points to Ponder:
Do you praise God regularly?

Are you seeing God for who He is?
