Devotion:
Happy Christmas! But let me ask you that awkward question now; what is Christmas to you? What have you got planned for today, or what have you been doing all day (depends on when you read this)? Depending on who you ask you will get very varied responses which will range from the happiest of times through to the saddest of times; and depending on when you ask the same person they may give you varied answers too! I know that I have had many different thoughts about what Christmas should be all about…
The magi had seen all the signs that Christ was to be born and they would now desperately seek Him to worship Him. The shepherds had been shown the light, literally, and had come to see Christ in the stable, but the wise men would have to travel a long distance to catch up with and find the boy Jesus. They set their goals and nothing was going to get in their way until they found Him!
When we think of Christmas we probably have all sorts of nightmares about the planning that may get involved and the travel and all sorts of things, but unless we set our goal to aim for, we are still lost in the crowd. Christ does not want us to be running round like headless chickens, especially at this time of year! We should be seeking to worship Him just as the wise men wanted to; but we don’t have to travel so far and for so long to find Christ because He is with us!
So don’t panic about having to spend time with family, enjoy it. Don’t worry that you may be alone as you are away from home, enjoy it. Just bring God into the things that you do; include God in this time of celebration. This is a time of celebration as we remember that Christ was born for our sakes, so include Him in everything you do today; but most of all, enjoy it and have a blessed day. God be with you!
Points to Ponder:
Happy Christmas!
Remember to celebrate WITH CHRIST!
