Saturday Reading: Isaiah 43:8-13
Key Verse: Isaiah 43:9
Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled. Who among them can declare this, and show us former things? Let them bring out their witnesses, that they may be justified; or let them hear and say, “It is truth.”
Devotion:
God has given us a commission to take His Gospel out to the world and let them see what an awesome God He is; but not just to show how great He is but firstly to introduce the truth to them. Many people have not been given the chance at hearing the real Gospel because of all the garbage we have in this world. I’m not talking about all the high technology and great things we have got in the world, but the way we use them. I pen and paper is just as damaging as a wayward tweet on Twitter though the ripples or waves are not felt as quickly.
We have God’s Word written down so that we can know what He has given to all of mankind from the beginning of time to this day and beyond into the future. This has been written down so we can know it, but many people have also been writing things down that go against God’s Word and it is those things I wish to warn you about today. I don’t pretend to be any scholar or know-it-all because I know that I learn new things every day from God; but I do try my best to stick to what God exposes to be as the truth… and that is not always what man tells me is the truth!
God is the one who will show us in our hearts the real truth. We get excited about things that we hear and we can be easily led away from the truth if we just “go with it”; but standing still and trying to listen to God as He tries to get through to our hearts is what we desperately need to do in our lives. Yes things like music and social media can swipe our attention within a few seconds, but so can a sentence written down with pen and paper when we get to read that. Always take what you hear, read and see and compare it to what God has shown you in the past; not what man has said but what God has exposed in your heart.
I am so very glad that I can know in my heart that Christ alone is my saviour and that nothing of this world can make any difference to that fact. I thank Him that we can move forward and take the Gospel message with us when so many around us are taking the world’s message instead. Nobody will ever turn back the clock so that God does not exist, because God Himself made time in the first place! Thank you God!
Points to Ponder:
What do you take with you every day?
How often do you share God’s Word?
