And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.
Devotion:
What a day to remember. The day your first baby is born. I can only hope and pray that your day to remember is or was as special as mine. Each birth of a child is very special and each birth seems to be as awesome as the previous. Seeing people around me hugging and cuddling and enjoying being together brings hope into my world, a hope that Christ planted by being that baby boy for every one of us, including those who cannot have or have not yet had children. This is a day to rejoice and be happy for the Light of the World has entered in!
All the fuss and bother of getting things sorted, all the hustle and bustle to make sure everything comes together at the right time is not at an end or coming to an end. Today is the day when we relax and praise God for the glorious birth of His Son, our Saviour.
We sing carols such as “See amid the winter's snow, Born for us on earth below, See the tender Lamb appears, Promised from eternal years.” Well, it may be snowing somewhere in the world and there may be lovely Christmassy scenes of people running around having snowball fights and building snowmen, but not here and not in many hot places such as Bethlehem! We do like to get carried away with our celebrations, but let us always remember Christ, the baby Jesus, born on this special morn, celebrated by so many who don’t yet know Him.
Spread a bit of joy today and share Christ this Christmas Day.
Points to Ponder:
Have a wonderful and blessed day today and may Christ bless you and keep you safe this coming year!
