January 4: Ephesians 2:4-10

Key Verse: Ephesians 2:6
and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

Devotion:
I do find it incredible seeing the love some parents have for their children and I hope and pray my children see that in me; but the love that Christ has for us goes far deeper than anything we can have for our children. I see parents who think they have not done enough for their children bursting with love when that one special moment arrives just when the child needs it. I see children who get so cross with parents wrapping their arms around them just when they need them most…

God’s love for us has been here even when we were at our worst. His love has surrounded us when we were turning away from Him. His love has stretched out to us when we were too busy rejecting Him to see the love. His love has steadied us when we were falling apart at the seams. There is no greater love than the love our heavenly Father has for us on earth!

This love our God has for us does not depend on how well we behave or how much we show Him our love first of all. This love does not require annual instalments or weekly giving or anything we can supply; this love has been expressed toward us before we even knew about it and before we blocked it out. This great love stretches down from Heaven to us and lifts us up from the gutter into His presence and into His joy and peace.

We have been created by God to accept this love and to acknowledge it before other men. We are His creation. Our thoughts and our imaginations cannot grasp how He could know every detail about us, but He does. And even though He knows every sordid detail about us, He continues to pour out His love on us and share this peace which he brings to us each and every day. Yes we could ignore the love, the joy, the peace and even God, but where would that leave us other than even more lost than we were before we ignored Him. Bring God back into your life this year!

Points to Ponder:
Is God actually in your life?

Or is He just another word?
