Friday Reading: Psalms 105 40-45

Key Verse: Psalms 105 45
45 That they might observe His statutes and keep His laws. Praise the Lord!

Devotion:
This is one of the psalms written by David and was written as a song to remind the people of many of the things that God had done for Israel so that they would be reminded of His Word continually. The ark of the covenant was being brought back and David wanted the people to remember their Lord and to praise Him for all He had done in their past and promised for their future. Often we need reminding of what God has done just so that we do remember to praise Him.

If we are feeling down because not everything is going our way, or we are feeling hard done by because the world does not understand our ways, we still need to be joyful and lift up our God in praise for all that He does in our lives. Just because we cannot see what He is preparing or because we have forgotten what He did for us yesterday does not mean that He is not doing something for us today!

God has accomplished so much in our lives even though we have done so many things against Him and contributed to the evil and despair of the world around us. In spite of all that we do get wrong, God is still willing and able to lift us up and prepare us for the new life that we will have with Him in glory. He has given us His Word and has made sure that we have ready access to it so that we can learn it and remember it. If we continue to ignore God’s Word then we will not be able to live our lives for Him and will continue working against Him instead. God’s plan is for us to know His Word, apply it in our lives and live for the future that we have with Him

God has not given us the law so that it will bring us down into a pit of despair but rather that it will lift us up and encourage us to live our lives for Him and not against Him. God has continued to show us mercy and grace over the years so that we know that He loves us and wants us to live a good life with Him. He continues to bring things into our world so that we will be encouraged and not discouraged. It is the world and the corrupt nature of man that brings in all the sin and strife that bring us down and separate us from God. Praise the Lord for all He does do in your life!

Points to Ponder:
Do people get you down?

Do you allow God to lift you up?
