Tuesday Reading: 2 Timothy 2:22

Key Verse: 2 Timothy 2:22
22  But flee youthful lusts, and follow righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Devotion:
Yesterday I was having a conversation with someone at work and we were talking about how our children do things that we would not have dreamed of doing when we were that age! I think I am allowed to say things like that because they are grown up now  :-)  Then when I read this verse I just knew that I had to bring it to you today. Then I remembered that I had forgotten my computer in the office and all I had was my PDA... So this devotion is not formatted anything like the normal ones!

When I was young!... I just had to say that... Seriously, when we are young we tend to think much less of the Consequences of our actions and more about the fun that we are going to have. Part of that fun is often getting other people into trouble with the things we get up to; the more trouble, the more fun! Now I am not saying that we all have to stop having fun because I still like to have fun! But think a bit!

Just taking a short second to think about what we are about to do can made all the difference between fun and anguish. If I had taken a few seconds to think about whether I needed my laptop I wouldn't have left it behind... I can look back on my life and see how many times I used to get into trouble just because I mixed with the wrong crowd on many occasions. I saw nothing wrong at the time; but I did not think about much then either. Our actions are going to affect our lives more than we think and giving our minds a few seconds to catch up with what we do and say will help us to have the right affect on others too... Mine actions still do!

Points to Ponder
:
Do you think?

Do you ever think... Just what would Jesus do?
