Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ

In order to comply with EU laws about sending emails we need to have consent before we can send you emails! So before we cross the deadline, please respond to the mail I have sent out if you had already subscribed to receive Daily Devotionals. I have changed over to use MailChimp to make the subscription/unsubscription process a little easier for everyone.

Since MailChimp are requiring all sorts of things, we are no longer using them to email people. As soon as I get over health and family issues I will try to start up the daily devotions again.

BBF and TimeZone update

Bread by Faith has changed - just a little. For those of you who are 'behind GMT' you should now get your devotions after midnight and not at around 8 or 9 at night for the next day.

BBF  and DST update

I have re-written the scripts on the server to access the data directly rather than relying on the system getting the DST times right for all time zones - When they are accessed the system is trying to be too clever and guessing the timezone from the point of access - which is incorrect for the Android application because all access is done via a secondary layer to ensure absolute security...

The access should be slightly quicker and the resultant data GMT based which suits the Android app better...


Hopefully no more having to press refresh every day - but I can only test it at midnight :-P

BBF and DST

I seem to have miscalculated things and due to DST (daylight savings time) kicking in in UK the daily refresh is triggered but does not get the latest copy of the daily devotions. I am changing the timezone on the server to see if that will fix it; if not then I will have to change the server script to pick the right data manually rather than relying on the Joomla RSS feed utilities to work their magic behind the scenes.
