Wednesday Reading: Psalm 139:1-6
Key Verse: Psalm 139:2
2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.
Devotion:
One thing we often forget is that God is the one who does know it all! It is hard for us to think that He can know all of our thoughts and deeds because we find it hard to understand others (and even sometimes ourselves). We are the ones who like to think that we do know so much, but when we are faced with something we have not been faced with before, we find that we fall far short of many things with our lack of wisdom and understanding.
God is our Creator and He is the one who made us in the way that we are now. Yes, we have changed over time as we have learned many things and done many things, but that does not mean that God is out of touch with us! We often think that we lose touch with people and we don’t know them anymore – but God continues to take a keen interest in each one of us and knows us from the inside out. He is the one looking at us from the inside so He knows how we tick… We may think we have changed to such an extent that others do not know us, but He has watched us change and still knows us. Whether we have a personal relationship with Him so that He can guide us is going to be our choice.
If you wanted someone to be able to look after you, you would probably choose someone who knows your likes and dislikes. You would probably choose someone who you know will love you for what you are. You would choose someone if they said they would be willing to die for you! Well, who could be a better fit for that than someone who knows us from the inside out, someone who loves us and has demonstrated that love for us by giving His own life for us? That someone is Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. He has demonstrated His love beyond any requirement that we could ever dream of and continues to take the keenest of interest in each one of us – let Him be your friend and Saviour.
Points to Ponder:
What quality would you look for in someone to care for you?
Have you thought about how much Christ does for you?
