Key Verse: Isaiah 26:4
4 Trust in Jehovah forever; for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.
Devotion:
Have you ever thought about how much you miss just because you do not know about it? A staggering thought and one that makes you think just how small a piece of this world we are... But one that need never worry you if you are willing and able to trust in God. We are reminded many times in God’s word that we need to trust in Him and through verses like this we know that we will receive His love and peace by doing exactly that.
Not everyone will receive that peace of God because not everyone is willing to receive it. Sounds a bit silly that people would turn down such a wonderful thing, but until they know that peace of God they do not know just how much they are missing out on. That must be part of our walk with Christ – to allow others to somehow see that we have that peace that only God can give us. Our souls will be forever refreshed by that perfect peace for as long as we continue to trust in God. Our minds need to be stayed in The Lord; in other words we need to keep Him constantly in our minds, in our thoughts and hence in our actions. God’s love is there for all to enjoy but in order to gain from it we must believe in Christ and all He has done for us. Just by believing that God is real is probably not going to get us any more than fear that there is a God who has a history of showing His wrath! But by knowing Christ we can then know the love that He has for us and that is what will give us the peace that He wants us to enjoy.
If we try to justify our peace through the good times that God give us then we may well find that we cannot understand why people talk about the peace of God. We need to trust in God is both the good times and the bad times because there are always going to be bad times that we go through. Our world is so full of sin that we will always be exposed to those bad times even when we are walking with God. But God is the one who will give us the strength to walk through those bad times and to come out the other side stronger and wiser than when we went in. That will give us a better understanding of His eternal love for us.
Points to Ponder:
How much strength do you gain through exercise?
How much exercise is God giving you?
