Sunday Reading: Jeremiah 17:5-7
Key Verse: Jeremiah 17:7
7 Blessed is the man who trusts in Jehovah, and Jehovah is his trust.
Devotion:
Have you ever tried to walk the other way in a crowd of people all going in one direction? It is difficult and many times you may even give up because it just does not seem worth it. Our walk with God is like that many times because of the amount of people that we meet that are not walking in the same direction as us; the more people we face going against God the more weak we feel in our walk with Him. He is the one that is there to guide and direct us but far too often we get lost in the crowd and may even lose our direction.
This is not something new because of the amount of people that seem to be against God nowadays because this has been happening throughout history and there is nothing that is going to change that until the Lord comes back to reign for a thousand years. We will always face people going the other direction but there will always be a way through the crowd. Just like walking through a crowd of people, our walk may not be very predictable but we can still make headway. We may feel like we are getting nowhere fast but we are actually growing stronger and wiser with each step.
As long as we continue to put our hope and trust in God then we still have a goal to aim for and we still have direction in our lives. If we give up then we lose that goal and that direction making our life seem senseless. The more that we focus on achieving our walk with God the more that we will find that we can do it. The more that we walk with Him, the more that we find He is there by our side all the way. We may not feel like He hears us all the time because we are so tied up in trying to fight the flood but should we open our eyes we will see the small things that are happening all along the way. We may feel like a plant stuck out in the middle of the desert but even those plants do find water from God!
Points to Ponder:
Are you fighting the flood?
Are you drawing strength from your fight?
