Monday Reading: Romans 10:12-17
Key Verse: Romans 10:17
17 Then faith is of hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.
Devotion:
We can think back on the stories that were told and wonder why people have lost sight of the importance of God’s Word. We can wonder why God’s Word is no believed as the truth as it was a few hundred years ago. But then we can go back a few thousand years and see the same pattern; people walking away from God. Why? Because they were no longer were looking into God’s Word and were no longer looking to Him because of what they knew. Society is growing more ignorant of God’s Law day by day.
There is only one God and there is only one way that we can get to heaven. No matter how else we try to pave our way through to heaven we will never be able to get there without Christ Jesus. The only way we are going to know that is by knowing God’s Word. There are all manner of people trying to teach all manner of ways in which they can reach enlightenment or reach a god-like status but there is also no escaping from the one and only truth that there is one God and one way to heaven. We need to be able to hear God’s Word preached to us, taught to us and even open to us so that we can read it. Even if we do not have regular exposure to God through preaching in a church we will be able to know God through reading His Word. Why else would He have given us His Word?
We could try to teach people about God until we were blue in the face and still wonder why they do not believe us. God’s Word is seen as an authority. Man has always known that it is authoritative, even if he has tried his best to hide it because it shames him. Man has always seen the truth when he has read about it. There are many who will not believe because they have been deceived by a huge lie; and boy are there many of those flying around nowadays, even in our schools. We have a duty to make sure that people get to hear God’s Word so that they too may know the truth. God needs us to be patient and exercise our faith through following what is written and not what we think should happen. If your faith is waning, pick up God’s Word and start reading!

What strengthens you?
How often do you read God’s Word?
