Devotion:
God’s Word is there for a reason and that reason is clear to all who would venture into it and take it in. The message is plain and simple but so very difficult to follow until you get to know God and to know what He can do for you. Once we find out that we have done something wrong it is not always an easy task to not go ahead and do that same thing wrong again. Maybe the first time that we did it we were not sure whether it was wrong to begin with and maybe we just took a chance. But when we find out that it is or was wrong then doing it again seems to take on a new meaning – almost like someone daring us to do it again just because it is wrong.
God’s Word is here to guide us through times like that. Not only will it allow us to see what we do wrong but it will allow us to see where we go wrong in our ways and even in our minds too. God’s Word will show us exactly why we are called sinners and it will show us that even though we do try we do still fall short of the mark. But the most wonderful thing about God’s Word is that it is not here just to blame us but to guide us and to show us the way away from those faults and traps of sinful ways.
When we pick up a book that shows us how to get physically fit it will show us all manner of exercises that we should be doing and those exercises are not going to be easy to start with; but the more that we stick to them the more that we will find it gets easier and it is beneficial! Being physically fit starts with you changing your mindset to become fit otherwise it is all too much of a chore. Mending our ways with God requires a change in us, one that He is willing to do for us if we are willing to take that first step of obedience! God wants us to be good examples – that is why He gave us such a wonderful book...
Points to Ponder:
Are you ready to change?
Will you take God’s Word?
