Saturday Reading: Romans 10:10
Key Verse: Romans 10:10
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation.
Devotion:
When someone asks you if you believe that there is a God what is the first thought that goes through your mind? We should not have to think about whether we believe in God or whether we believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins because we either believe it or we don’t. Harsh words but true!
Our belief in Christ has to be certain, has to be bullet proof... That does not mean that we should not have any questions about Him or about what He has done or how but that initial belief has to be sure. We have to believe it in our hearts that Christ is the Son of God and that He died for our sins and was raised on the 3rd day so that we too can obtain eternal life. That concept in itself is hard for us to grasp because we do not have the wisdom to understand that sort of love completely. Yes we do have people that go to fight wars for us and they willingly give their lives. For that I am eternally grateful and wish there was some way I could tell them that but once you have given your life there is no turning back. For that single reason, we have to be sure about what is going to happen when we do give our lives – or even when we die.
Christ simply wants us to be sure that we know that He is God and that He has already paid the price for our sins. He wants us to come to Him and tell Him that with our own mouths. When we do have that belief held within our hearts that He is God we will have no problem admitting our sins to Him and coming straight to Him. Once we do that we will know that He is and forever will be our God. His love for us knows no bounds and certainly will never end.
When someone first asks you if you believe, that first response is the one that comes from your heart. That is the answer that we have to depend on because when we get to meet Him face to face that is the answer that will come out. He wants to save us. He wants to give us eternal life. He wants us to be with Him in heaven... Why else would He have given His own life for you?
Points to Ponder:
What does your heart say?
What will Christ hear when He asks you?
