Monday Reading: Hebrews 13:5-8
Key Verse: Hebrews 13:8
8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever.
Devotion:
One of the most amazing things that you will find as you read through the bible is that God has not changed from the beginning right through to the end and nor will He change. Christ came forward to lay His life down on the cross for us and He continues to uphold that same truth every day of our lives. Each one of us can stand up and say “God loves me!” Each one of us can truly stand up and say “Christ died for me!” Each one of us can stand up and say that we have a God that is the same today as He was yesterday and that He will be the same tomorrow as well.
How many of us can say that about our leaders or any other part of our life for that matter. We live in a world where things seem to change quicker all the time. Children grown up expecting things to happen within hours instead of within days like we do or within weeks like our parents. Each generation seems to be caught in a spiral of ever quickening timescales; but none will be as quick as the return of our Lord. Nothing will be able to stop the return of our Lord and nothing will be able to predict it either.
We really do need to take a step back from our busy schedules and give time back to God. We need to shake off the trappings of this world and bring God back into our lives. Quite simply we need to learn to depend on God more. Our bibles remind us over and over again that God does not change and that He is willing and able to help us; and yet we continue to live our lives as though He were not part of us. We don’t have to regard what man can do against us because all he can do is destroy our bodies. God alone is the one who can liberate our souls and chain them up forever with Satan. We need to bring Christ back into our lives before we change too much...
Points to Ponder:
How do you think you have changed last year?
Has your attitude towards God changed yet?
