Wednesday Reading: Proverbs 27:1-2
Key Verse: Proverbs 27:1
1 Do not boast yourself of tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.
Devotion:
Many a time God has tried to remind man that his days are numbered. He has tried to tell us in so many ways that we should not be so sure of what will happen tomorrow because we simply do not know when He is going to come and take us home! It is always best to enjoy the day today in God’s amazing arms because we may not see what is around the corner. Having time to be able to sit and just be with God is good. Having time to be able to do His will is good. Having time to enjoy life is also good but we have to remember all the time that we need to make the most of everything that God gives us.
I have just spent over 4 hours undoing what a single hacker did on one of the servers that I run. Just a small mistake in my security setup allowed them in to do their damage – the result, half a day wasted already... so that is why this comes to you a few hours later than normal... It’s not as if the server is publicised anywhere, nor has it got any user data, account information or emails on it. Someone had just decided that it was quiet enough to attack so that nobody would notice... well someone did & that was my first alarm this morning! Nothing like a “get out of bed NOW” call!
We just do not know what is in store for each one of us each day and we have to be ready for it. The only way I can make sure that my computers are secure is to have enough protection around them and then always keep a close eye out on them too. That is exactly what God wants for each of us. He wants to be able to give us the best protection possible because He knows what is out there waiting in the darkness! He does not want us to be compromised. He does not want us to find out when it is too late! But He does not want us to shout about how good we are or what we can do because that would be glorifying ourselves. He just wants us to realise that we need Him more than we realise and He wants us to come to Him for His amazing protection. Let others see a bit of God through you by trusting in Him...
Points to Ponder:
Do you know what dangers are out there?
Do you know that God already knows about them?
