Tuesday Reading: Jeremiah 6 15-18

Key Verse: Jeremiah 6 16
16  So says Jehovah, Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths where the good way is, and walk in it, and you shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk in it.

Devotion:
One thing we must remember is that God’s promises will come to pass. We always take a look at His promises of love, support and encouragement and remember that they will stand the test of time because that makes us happy. But how often do we take a look at the much more serious side of this and remember that God has promised that the evil will be destroyed? That is something we don’t like to remember because it is negative, but remember it we must!

We don’t have to look far around us to see just how many people are being enticed away from God’s Word by the world around us, by the people around us who do not care about God. Just because they do not care or believe does not mean that God is going to ignore them too. Not one person will ever escape their final meeting with Christ because that is His own promise to us. Just because someone has never bothered to find out about God does not mean that they will escape His justice – we cannot use ignorance as an excuse when everyone has God’s Word through the bible.

There has got to be times when we do have to ignore the modern ways because they are enticing us away from God’s Word. There must be time in our lives to catch up with God’s word so that we can learn His ways. Turn back to the old ways to find out why people did what they did; they turned their backs on the world so that they could focus on God! There is nothing sinister or evil about God’s ways and we have to make time in our lives for His ways otherwise we too will be carried away with the ways of the world and leave God’s ways behind. If we want rest we need to rest in His arms alone.

Points to Ponder:
What do you like doing best?

How often do you do things God’s way?
