Saturday Reading: Psalm 25:8-14

Key Verse: Psalm 25:14
14  The secret of The LORD is with those who fear Him; and He will show them His covenant.

Devotion:
Don’t you find it amazing that even though God knows what we get up to, what we think, what we say, even with all that knowledge He is still willing to try and teach us what is right and wrong. Just like our parents did not seem to give up on the lost causes we may have been – He will never give up on us! But, just like us and our parents, we have to be willing to sit down and listen before we can learn. It is no good ignoring God’s advice because we will never learn anything then! No matter which way we look at it, God’s ways are actually right. He does show us mercy. He does teach us the truth. So why are we not walking in all His ways?

We really do need to stand up and thank Him for all He does for us even though we turn our back on Him. We need to thank Him for allowing His only Son to die on the cross so that we would have forgiveness. It is that love that He showed us first that should encourage us to lift Him up and thank Him for all that He does in our lives. We are the ones who need to recognise that we are doing things wrong and we need Him in our lives to sort out those ways. Just like the children of Israel just before Moses died; they were plainly told that they had a choice between a good life with God and a bad life without Him. God still gave then the choice even though He knew they would turn their backs on Him and go after strange Gods.

As long as we are willing to recognise God for who He actually is and to lift up His name alone, we will be able to share in His rich blessings. It does not matter how much of a sinner we are now or how much we have been in the past, His love has covered it all. Our task is to come humbly before God and recognise Him alone as our one true God. Nothing is impossible for God.  The secret is in knowing who He is. Our God! He wants us to know Him and the promise He has given us.

Points to Ponder:
Do you think you need forgiveness?

Are you looking to God alone as God?
